An Elite Conversation With Wednzday

Last week we we’re first introduced to lovely sounds Texas-based singer Wednzday, who first caught out attention with her smooth R&B cut “Wednesday Night,” which turned out to be a cover version of a song from PartyNextDoor.

Following her first release Wednzday returned with her single “Sorry,” featuring Houston rap veteran Trae tha Truth, becoming a fan of her work I reached to chat it with her and she was cool enough to respond.

Who is Wednzday?

I was born on Ash Wednesday and consequently I was named Ashley. My stage name used to be Ash Wednesday but I dropped the Ash so that I wouldn’t offend anyone’s religious beliefs. Wednzday is dope to me b/c I love the darkness and the real matter of fact point of view of Wednesday Addams too. No one celebrated the day of the week Wednesday. It’s a forgotten unappreciated day. Ive been doing this music thing so long I kind of feel forgotten, I’m the middle child of RnB with something to prove.

Breakdown your musical background.

I come from a musical family. i grew up singing in the church like everyone else.

What type of artist inspired you growing up?

Mariah Carey is my Queen.

How would you define your style?

You first caught my attention with the track “Wednesday Night,” what was the inspiration behind that record?

My producer Neenyo told me to do it LOL! Its actually a PartyNextDoor cover

Most recently you released “Sorry,” with Trae tha truth, great tune, how did you two link up?

I reached out and he thought I was dope so he hopped on the record. I wish it were a more interesting back story.

Following the release of two great singles what can we expect on your new project?

IT WILL BE MOODY AND SINCERE. i write about real things that happen in my life.

What goals do you wish to carry out during your career?

If I could get just ONE CLASSIC ALBUM that would be enough for me lol

How do you feel about the current state of R&B, do you feel like its going in a good direction?

R&B is evolving and I think its dope.

What artist or producers would you like to work with in the future?

Right now Im with one of the dopest producers.. Neenyo. Im good where Im at. I would love to get Travis Scott on a song tho. Or a feature from Ty Dolla Sign

Name one album you couldn’t live without
