An Elite Muzik Conversation With Farah Washington

A Quick Conversation with California singer-songwriter Farah Washington

This past weekend California-based singer and songwriter Farah Washington, released her new single titled “Are You,” the first official release from her upcoming EP “XELF” set to release very soon.

Following the release of the single, over the weekend we asked Farah a few quick questions for an interview or what we like to call An Elite Muzik Conversation . Check out our conversation below.

What Type Of Music were you exposed to growing up?

Growing up I listened to all types of music from R&B, rock, and hip hop. Korn, Lauryn Hill, Mya, Aaliyah, Sade etc.

What song instantly puts you in a good mood?

Mario’s “Let Me Love You”

What are your main inspirations and greatest influences?

Sade is definitely the one I look too. She’s amazing and her voice is everything.

How would you describe your sound?

I would say it’s R n Bass.

Along-side singing you’re also a songwriter, Do you follow a formula when writing records?

I usually get in the car, blast the instrumental and write. I might smoke sometimes.

Out of all the songs you’ve written, which ones would you consider your favorites and why?

I would say “You Ain’t Ready” because I actually wrote it while I was in the mood.

Today you blessed us with your new single “Are You”, what was the inspiration behind the record?

Well within the generation, it’s much harder to find love and know who’s who, so I wanted to write a song like “is the guy I’m attempting to make things happen with the one? And would show me something different if he was.

You’re Currently hard at work on your brand new EP ‘XELF,” what type of sound/vibe can we expect?

Except something refreshing, I’m trying to take a different perspective as a female and show the side most of us aren’t talking about.

If you could only listen to one album for a life-time, what album would it be and why?

Hm…808s & Heartbreaks fasho. It was just an amazing album to me and I fell in love with the sound of it and how different of an approach he and Kid Cudi took.
