Hailing from Brisbane Australia next up we’re blessed with the latest tune from up & coming songbird Tiana Khasi. Influenced by the likes Anita Baker to Erykah Badu, Tiana is a well-rounded musician, trained jazz vocalist and formally a member of the 7-piece jazz-hip-hop band, Astro Travellers
Doing her own solo thing last year Tiana made waves with live visuals for “Georgia’s Track,” followed by her Sampology-produced debut EP, MEGHALAYA released earlier this year. Today the soulful act shares her official debut single “Nuketown,” released under the Soul Has No Tempo imprint.
Tiana Khasi speaking on the new single:
“At the time of writing Nuketown, I was processing the end of one too many toxic relationships in which my strength was underestimated. The song gave me a chance to have a more confrontational conversation embellished by a tender soundscape of strings, hushed vocals and ethereal synths.
Whilst working on the track, I vividly recalled the footage of old nuclear testing sites set up as 1950’s neighborhoods. In hindsight, this contrasting imagery represented how something picturesque and perfect can be a smokescreen for something more destructive, inevitably imploding into beautiful chaos”
Nuketown is my gentle way of saying “You were silly for thinking you could cross me twice. Thanks for the experience, now kindly fuck off and prepare for your self-inflicted demise.”
