Mississippi-wordsmith David Banner, is a name that needs no introduction in most rap circles, in the early 2000’s the rapping-producer put together hit-records for himself (“Like a Pimp”) and the for the likes of T.I. (“Rubberband Man”), Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Maroon 5, Chris Brown and many others. Banner has also gone on to star in major motion pictures such as Black Snake Moan, Stomp The Yard, The Butler, Ride Along among others, and started a new career as a keynote speaker.
on May 19th Banner will release his 7th studio album The God Box, featuring an all-star line up of Cee-Lo, Raheem DeVaughn, Big K.R.I.T, Black Thought, Trinidad James, WatchtheDuck & Big Rube. while Dave handles the production on half of the album himself, he also enlists production from DJ Khalil, DJ Swiff, Chris “THX” Goodman and more.
Fast-forwarding to today David Banner releases his new track from the album “Magnolia,” featuring Cee-Lo & Raheem DeVaughn. Speaking on the single Banner says this “The song represents the relationship of trees in Mississippi and Africans throughout history,” “The taller the tree, the broader the story, the shorter the tree, the more personal the perspective is. My verse is about the relationship of the magnolia tree and African’s during slavery.”
