Published

on

Canadian pop artist Alexandra Petkovski known under the popular moniker FJØRA, grow up in musical household, at a very young age Alexandra began studying music, alongside her father teaching her play classical piano. These actions led to improv jazz and taking an interest in composition and film scoring. Alexandra later studied music composition, and received her Masters of Commercial Music in Composition and Arranging from Belmont University in Nashville.

Alexandra is now a resident in NYC attending NYU’s Steinhardt School of Music, working toward receiving her PhD in Composition. Last month the talented pop artist released her début EP, WATERCOLOR, featuring popular tracks “Wild Animals,” and “Zodiac.” Today Alexandra aka FJØRA shares the next single from the project titled “Magic.”

Alexandra speaks on the inspiration behind the EP and her name FJØRA:

“WATERCOLOR is my first EP release, which is why it was important to me that it be reflective of the person I am at this moment in time, It’s a little weird, a little quirky, dramatic, fun – a bit experimental and an exploration of the kinds of music I love and never thought I could be taken seriously for before. FJØRA means ‘rolling tide’ and having been strongly connected with water my whole life, it just made sense that this first ‘shade’ of music I share be encompassed by its name – combining the two most significant things in my life. Water and color. I am truly appreciative of this chance to now let it leave its nest and find its place in all of this beautiful world!”

Introducing Priime

Priime Premiers Pop infused Afrocentric single ‘Lil Bit Longer’,

Published

on

Emerging British singer, songwriter and rapper Priime, is a fresh talented artist known for coupling pop music with his traditional Afrocentric musical background, to create inventive alternative and experimental music that he has aptly coined ‘Hybrid Music’. The first official taste of this ‘Hybrid Music’ comes in the form of his debut single titled ‘Lil Bit Longer’,

Backed by lush guitar progressions and string arrangements, and sonically inspired by the Walt Disney classic Mary Poppins, ‘Lil Bit Longer’ is an outstanding debut offering, with infectious pop sensibilities, glorious musicianship and a strong vocal display.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the offering, Priime says, “The idea for ‘Lil Bit Longer’ came after one of those late night conversations with a significant other that you never want to end, and it expresses the antithesis need for us to spend more time with ourselves, for the sole purpose of self-awareness. Notwithstanding, art is a very subjective form of self expression, in that it is whatever you make it out to be.

A Lil Bit Longer was inspired by elements of my faith and belief, which teach that my identity is rooted in the image of God, so in spending time with Him, I come to learn not just who and what I am but also who and what I’m not. I was inspired to compose the song in the first person, taking on the position of God himself as I feel he relates to me”.
