Los Angeles psych rockers Hearty Har, unleash their new Psychedelic-Rock cut “Radio Man ‘56.” The track is the third in a series of singles released so far this year, which also includes “ Can’t Keep Waiting ” and “ Creation Frustration.”
“Radio Man ‘56” was written and sang by Tyler Fogerty, who had this to say of the track:
“Radio Man ‘56” is my take on the birth of Rock n Roll in the 1950’s. In the song, Rock n Roll is born by an extraterrestrial radio DJ crash landing to Earth. It was recorded at our home studio Radio Astro. I wanted to write a song that fulfilled my fantasies for the music and sounds I love. The lyrics of the song are about a high school kid who comes into contact with an alien, who then later becomes abducted and is shown “the way” and feeling of the music. It is a metaphor for hearing this kind of music for the first time”
“The beginning of the song mimics a spaceship crash landing and the end of the song the ship is taking off into outer space again. I used a very old tube keyboard from the ‘50s to make transmission signals sent from the spaceship to show that they have landed. The chorus lyrics “Tell me now, what’s that sound I hear!? Grab your girl, do the alien,” was my imagination of the young man’s reaction to hearing these strange sounds. He is abducted by the music if you will. I also wanted invent a new dance move “The Alien” as an homage to the many new dances of the 50’s and 60’s like Rufus Thomas’s “The Dog”
