My Morning Jacket to Perform on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon
With My Morning Jacket now beginning to prepare material for a new album, they are making their limited collaborations and live appearances count in a big way. Coming up next Friday, October 11th the band will be performing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and will be joined on-stage by Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes and Merrill Garbus of tUne-yArDs in honor of their contribution to Red Hot + Fela.
An album of Fela Kuti compositions, Red Hot + Fela hopes to raise AIDS awareness, and all proceeds from the album will go towards that cause. My Morning Jacket, along with Garbus and Howard, recorded the track “Trouble Sleep Yanga Wake Am” for the album. In addition, Jim James gave Indaba members the opportunity to remix the song ‘State of the Art (A.E.I.O.U)’ from his critically acclaimed solo album Regions of Light and Sound of God. The winner is titled “State of the Art (A.E.I.O.U.) (Robot Toast Remix)”, included in the A.E.I.O.U.R.E.M.I.X.E.S. EP (alongside remixes by Thom of Alt-J and Chris Funk), available on October 8th exclusively through Spotify.
