Narada El Sol “Reflections”

When Narada el Sol gets into the mindset of making music, he uses a complementary pattern of beats, rhymes, harmonies and prayers. Prayers for what you may ask? Rain. I was fortunate to be present for the recording process as quiet as its kept is the secret of his success.

N.E.S as he prefers to be called, agrees that rap music now has an obsession with bragging and not enough artistry. Hip-Hop is an art form at its grassroots level, but the beast masquerading as corporate rap music has corrupted the muse. Chicago has a rep for artists leaving the city to explore themselves, Common made the classic I used to love H.E.R as an ode to Hip Hop from a Chi-Town perspective. While Narada has east coast roots in New York with mid western sensibilities and he recognizes that for all of the negative things we can make positive change without exploiting our souls.

House of the Rising Sun is a complete album full of love for Real Hip Hop (Hey Star), tastee Classics (Pass the Falafel), and surprising party jams (Ms.Blueberry). Narada el Sol is a juxtaposition of a social activist/teacher and lovable rapper/Producer who masterfully blends familiar values of organization, trust, and artistic expression across boundaries of class, gender, and political awareness, so as a fan I can not wait to hear
‘ i SPEAK UNIVERSOL”.
