Sophie Auster “Run, Run, Run”

New York singer/songwriter Sophie Auster has announced that her brand new album Red Weather will be released November 13th on Lost Colony Music. The skittering beat and angular piano melody of “Run, Run, Run” underpin a seductively feral vocal from Sophie full of longing and caution. This summer, Sophie gave us a taste of one of the other facets of Red Weather with “Wicked Word” a thundering rocker replete with ringing guitars and a visceral vocal.

Sophie released her first album when she was 16. The album was collaboration with Brooklyn-based musicians One Ring Zero. She drew lyrical inspiration from her father’s (author Paul Auster) English translations of French surrealist poems. The album was highly acclaimed in France and quickly found an audience
throughout Europe.

Following that album, she met writer/musician Barry Reynolds who has worked with Rufus Wainright, Marianne Faithful, Antony & the Johnsons and Grace Jones and began collaborating on material. The album features the first recording of “Square Moon” a track co-written by Barry and Antony Hegarty (Antony & the Johnsons).
